  • Difficult to use, ineffective message check

I’ve been using this for two years. You can only use it on your phone. There’s no web browser access. This means that using the calendar is difficult when trying to add multiple events. Sending money is very limited, so it’s also useless. They added a message check, but it’s ineffective. My ex sends hostile messages regularly, yet when I copy and paste them into the message check, it says there’s no recommended changes. I assume it’s only looking for curse words, because it’s definitely not looking for hostility, threats, and accusations. My attorney and I had a stipulation to use a coparenting app due to my ex’s incessant harassment, but, even with the app, nothing changed. In fact, one of the first messages in the app from him said that he didn’t care about the app and record, it’s not going to change the way he communicates with me. I really wanted them to come out with a message check feature and now that they have, I’m terribly disappointed at how useless it is. I’m just going to have to suffer this continued—but different—abuse for the next 7 years. I hear good things about Our Family Wizard. I’d try that one instead of AppClose since this one is no longer free.

Only after you sign up and provide your personal information do they tell you that you’ve just started a 60-day free trial. The marketing creates the impression that the service is free, but it isn’t. At least some competitors are more transparent about their pricing and trial structure upfront. The onboarding process also raised concerns. The app repeatedly informed me that it had generated an invitation for my co-parent and asked whether I wanted to send it, despite the fact that I had never provided that person’s email address. What bothers me most is the business model. Family courts increasingly encourage or recommend these apps, creating a captive audience of parents who often have little choice but to use them. Yet many of these services put basic functionality behind subscriptions and recurring fees. The company states that fee waivers may be available for qualifying users, but it is unclear how those programs operate or who ultimately bears the cost. Greater transparency would be welcome. To me, this is a perfect example of capitalism at its worst: taking a difficult family situation, inserting a middleman, collecting personal information, and then charging people for services they may feel pressured to use. When an industry profits from conflict rather than solving it, consumers should be skeptical. Hard pass.

There’s a bunch of features here, and I’m sure they’re all very valuable, but there is absolutely no way to Taylor the experience to anyone’s individual situations. They also bury things you use a lot deep down scrolling lists, and there is no such thing as a easy one click operation for literally anything inside this app. I think it serves a purpose, but the actual experience of using the app itself is one of the worst I’ve ever had, and I may be jaded because I work in building saas applications, but it’s obvious whoever they hired to do the UX and UI of this app has never actually talked to any user. If there was any worthwhile competitive to this, I would switch instantly. If you read a lot of the five star reviews here, it’s everyone complaining about the same thing, but for some reason, people don’t understand that you can give less than five stars when you’re not happy or the app doesn’t deserve it.

This app is ran by AI and doesn’t go through waiver application for domestic violence.

The app is very functional and I love the ability to export official timestamped records so easily. I would really love a dedicated Parenting Log feature. I know you can add notes in the calendar feature but I would love it's own built in log feature where you can quickly add certain things you want to track and create records of (ie. school times, activities, meals, wake and sleep times, medications, potty training, behavioral concerns, etc.). So that each day pre-fills with what you want to track and you can quickly input the values. It would make high conflict co-parenting much easier to have the extra data all in the same place. Some feedback - When exporting chat reports, any documents sent in chat only display the first page of the document in the records. It would be nice to have the option to choose to include all pages in the export. Also when sending documents, it would be nice to be able to review or add one extra stop to make sure you are ready to send. I would like the option to send groups of files rather than one at a time. Also, small problem - I don't know if it's something I've done but I have a notification that will not go away no matter how many times I click on view event. The calendar is still a bit confusing for me and even though it says it can be private I still am unsure what is viewable by the other party. It is an excellent app however and I do prefer it over its competitors.

The app recently released an update that locks you out of messages. Technical support cannot figure out the problem, and response times are significantly longer. Explore other options.

This app has aided my ex in keeping my son isolated from me. Then after two years it starts charging the poor parents who are court mandated to use this app. Rug pull type of nonsense. User help is almost nonexistent.
