A fun app to get you out of your normal spots to explore. Im writing this review mainly to express how well they took constructive criticism from me, and actually made changes. Thank you folks for listening! Been a fan for years and years.

Found a rave..

It’s a little disappointing how little this app has evolved, blossoming from helpless to incredibly inconvenient. This app has potential, idea-wise, but it’s clearly money grab given the lack of development mixed with the endless in-app purchase options.

Today, I downloaded Randonautica. Why? Because I had seen a TikTok video stating that the app was very creepy and unsafe to have/use because of weird things you can find. So of course I have to download the app. I sign up, and figure out how to use the app and how the app works. After that I now wanted to try the random location thingy it’s known for. But before I press the ‘START’ button, i press the small settings button next to it. I make my radius as big as possible. Then I press the big start button to load in my random location. My first location was very close to home, a little too close for comfort. The first thing that comes up is my own school. My town is very small and my school is practically unknown/unheard of. So it’s kinda strange how i make my radius as big as i can get it, and the location it gives me is so close to home. I get pretty creeped out, so i take a photo of it and i sent it to my friend to see what she thinks about it. She was also very creeped out by it since it’s the first thing it ever gives me. I brush it off and call my friend to show her how the app works and to find another location with her. (I didn’t mention that i never went to any of these locations because of my risk of safety and it’s night time when i downloaded the app and it’s a school night.) As i screen share my screen to my friend, i press the start button to get a new random location. But this time, it would be the end of me using this app. The location finally loads in. It’s a house in the middle of nowhere, a long dirt road leads up to the house. I go to google maps to see what the house looks like and where it really was. I look at the roads very carefully. I’ve seen these roads before. My friend has too, many times. I get very confused and frightened from me overthinking things. This looked like it was close to my friend’s house. (the one i was on the phone with) and oh boy, was i right. I then decided to put the location it gave me on google maps, and my friend’s address to see how far they were to each other. My friend’s heart and my heart skips a beat. 3 exact minutes away from where she lives. She ends the phone call quickly from fright. I stare blankly at the screen. Maybe it was a silly coincidence? or maybe it was intended. Today is my first and last day using this app. I might be overreacting, but 3 darn minutes away from my friend’s house is very creepy and weird. Overall, the app is well designed and works perfectly. I just tend to get creeped out easier than other people do. I just want to stay safe. And I want the same thing for my friend.

me and my friend were using this app to explore and it really only took us to the middle of the forest and were kinda disappointed cuz we heard this app was all scary and whatnot but ig randonautica now isn’t as hype as it was years ago.

i used this app when it first came out and was free, worked fine. now it’s behind such confusing micro transaction paywalls.. all i want is some damn random coordinates. won’t load any.. even though i paid $4 for it !
