Description

Bark Kids is the free child companion app for both Bark and Bark Jr. To use it, you’ll need to have an established Bark account and install Bark Kids on your child’s device. Here are the features this app enables: SCREEN TIME MANAGEMENT Families can set healthy time limits and create schedules for when their children’s devices can connect to the internet (through both cell service and Wi-Fi). WEB FILTERING Our web filter lets you select which websites your child can access on their devices. You can allow or block specific sites — or even whole categories like streaming services, online gaming, sexual content, and more. GPS-POWERED LOCATION TRACKING Bark’s robust location tracking enables you to track your child in real time on a map. You can even find out if they’re stationary, walking, biking, or moving in a car. CHECK-INS Check-Ins are an easy way for families to get peace of mind when their kids are out and about. Rather than sending a "Did you get there?" or "Where are you?" text, you can rely on a GPS-based location confirmation from your children to verify that they've safely arrived at their destinations. It can even give you step-by-step directions via Google Maps so you can meet them where they are if necessary. PERSONAL ACCOUNT CONNECTIONS The Bark Kids app allows kids to connect their own accounts to Bark’s monitoring service (not available with Bark Jr). By allowing them to connect directly to our monitoring service, they get more privacy without having to share their usernames or passwords. HOW BARK KIDS WORKS WITH THE BARK PARENT APP Download the Bark Parent companion app to manage your child’s entire digital world - Monitor texts, apps & social media - Create custom screen time schedules - Block websites & apps - Get insights into online activities - Track location WHAT PARENTS ARE SAYING - "My wife and I LOVE Bark. We've had some tough but productive conversations with our 13-year-old son. It's proving to be extremely valuable." — Josh L. - “It’s just another set of protections we as parents give our kids for the digital environment (or as my 10-year-old calls it, a “cell phone seat belt”). My oldest is a 9th grader, and while I trust her, I’ve come to realize through the alerts that some of her friends aren’t truly her friends. It’s led to some amazing conversations about choosing friends wisely and recognizing toxic people. While she wasn’t for Bark at first, she’s since said she’s grateful that I saw those messages because it reaffirmed what she was feeling but didn’t know how to verbalize without sounding sensitive.” — Bark Parent - "Bark notified me that my young daughter had unknowingly revealed her phone number to strangers on Twitter. The fact that Bark notified me was impressive and led to an informative discussion with her the same day." — Jon B. - “Since Bark alerted us to the suicidal language used in the Google doc that was being used in a chat document with a friend, we have seen both a pediatrician and a licensed counselor. We are hopeful for a positive outcome. Thanks to Bark for letting us peek into our child’s mind!” — Bark Parent - “This app is a lifesaver! It has allowed us to catch so many “red flags” in the content my kids have accessed on their devices and in their interactions with friends and other people online that I wouldn’t have ever known about otherwise. The big difference between Bark and other “Parental Control” software is that Bark allows your kids to have so much more privacy. It doesn’t show you everything they do, but sends an instant alert regarding any activity that might be concerning. Highly recommended!” — Bark Parent With Bark, you can help keep your kids safe both online and in real life. Try it out for seven days absolutely free! I hate this app. I want my privacy. I don't want to spend 3 minutes deciding whether I can safely send this without triggering a bark. I also recently learned that my parents can see ABSOLUTELY EVERYTHING THAT HAPPENS ON THIS PHONE!!!! I READ A CUSS WORD IN HARRY POTTER., THEY KNOW. AN AD THAT IS MEANT FOR OLDER AUDIENCES POPS UP THAT I CAN'T DO ANYTHING TO STOP., THEY KNOW. BARK IF YOU READ THIS. PLEASE DISCONTINUE THIS APP IMMEDIATELY. IF A KID IS HAVING SUICIDAL THOUGHTS, THEY WILL MOST LIKELY TELL AN ADULT, OR ONE OF THEIR FRIENDS WILL. RESPECT KIDS' PRIVACY, AND DELETE THIS APP. VIVE LA BARK REVOLUTION!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!DOWN WITH THE BARK APP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I HAVE DELETED THIS INVASION OF PRIVACY AND RECOMMEND YOU DO THE SAME. I ONLY RATED THIS 5 STARS SO PEOPLE WOULD SEE THIS FOR WHAT IT IS TRULY. A MASSIVE INVASION OF PRIVACY Also parents: picture this you let your kid see absolutely everything that you send, no matter what. You probably wouldn't like that. “B-but we’re protecting them from making dumb mistakes” Let them make those mistakes. Let them learn from them. But if you want to drive a wedge in your relationship with your child, then by all means, download this app.

This app takes my Internet and it just sucks. It’s annoying when I look at my time and see blue outline around it and when I tap on it, it takes me to the app and stupid question.

So I’m a 13 year old and I have to say this app SUCKS and is SO BUGGY! Like my kindle and Amazon stopped working and I can’t search some websites (good websites not bad) and furthermore it completely destroys the kids relationship with the parents. When I got this app I was like fine whatever idc, but I still felt like my parents didn’t really trust me as much, and I fell like they need to let me make my own mistakes (again nothing bad) and trust me a little, if not any. In conclusion, this app not only made my relationship with my parents worse, but it also blocked some apps like Libby/kindle and Amazon and I don’t know why! If you are a parent, DO NOT GET THIS FOR YOUR KID! Also don’t ask me to “talk to my parents about it” because I’m not going to and I just feel untrusted and sad from this app, so please don’t get it. Also, if you have any thoughts or answers about the app situation with Amazon and stuff please help me out ( not even ChatGPT helps) 😒 thank you for listening!

It took things my friends said in group chats and put them under my name, absolute invasion of privacy, was marked as a virus by safari.

For me, it’s totally annoying. Whenever I’m on YouTube. Or anything for that matter it shuts me out and won’t let me back in. It’s frustrating. Because then all I can do is stare at my screen. And it does this while I’m on free time too. I absolutely hate it. And to be fair. I’m old enough to know better than be on those stupid apps that aren’t good for you. This is my opinion but it’s annoying. No I’m not a bot.

I read all the one-star reviews and saw that even THERAPISTS are disappointed in this app. I used to never have an attitude with my family but ever since September 5th (the day I was forced to have this app) I have been distant from my parents for almost the entire day. This app is an invasion of privacy and relationship killer. I have recently been told "well thats your mom shes allowed to get the app." Mom or not, your child deserves privacy. As a fairplayer if my moms gonna get me this app, all of my privacy goes to notebook paper, not the notes app, NOTEBOOK PAPER. I'm also more grateful for Safari than Google because Safari actually has a feature that blocks trackers (this app) from going through my searches so THANK YOU SAFARI. On the other side, Google doesn't. Once I got a privacy report from Safari that said "Safari has prevented 108 trackers from going through your searches." Didn't know the Bark app was basically toxicity. I'm horribly disappointed, just like the therapists mentioned. And look at the name I set myself to, it's simply protesting with an app store nick name to bring back privacy. Delete your app. Edit: I also looked up "when can an app get deleted" and I'm glad this app can get deleted at anytime, because it has an overall rating of 1.3 and apps can get deleted at anytime if it is rated anywhere under 1.6, but let's still get Bark to complete 1-star, because using 5 stars to get more visible is just rising the rating, so 5 stars to make a bad review is useless. Another edit: about the dev response, y'all are still saying you "still" give kids privacy by "never giving info to their parents"?? I didn't even mention that I stopped being friends with many people ever since September 5th, including my best friend in my next-door classroom, and she started being extremely rude. When I told my mom, she just said "you're being the bully". SHE NEVER DID THIS BEFORE WE GOT THIS APP. SHE ALWAYS DID SOMETHING ABOUT IT. As a victim of bullying, this app just makes it worse. I got this app because my mom doesn't believe in Human Rights (told me that) and Human Rights are made not just for adults, but CHILDREN. And a lot of people say that if kids don't invade their parent's privacy, then parents don't have a right to invade their children's, just like the quote in the UDHR, "no one has a right to go into someone's house and go through their letters". I'm disappointed in the response.
