Trails Offroad is the best offroad/overland/trails app out there. They have waypoints, follow me mode, land info, accurate trail info, user reviews by actual wheelers, camping waypoints and info, great info for planning trips, tracking, shared lists, and more. They don’t have good marketing, but they’re definitely the best app out there. Works great on my iphone including my old one which is just used on the trails (without cell connectivity).
  • Phenomenal but some room for improvement

After moving to CO in 2023, I wanted to check out the surrounding trails and came across some YouTube channels that mentioned this app. After downloading, the web interface is very easy to navigate and I liked the download by state option. I love the waypoints with pictures that most trails have and opted for paid membership. I also like how you can follow along with pictures on the app and the brief explanation for historical landmarks and sights that no other apps offer. It is very easy to map to beginning of trail in standard or reverse direction. Ford recently emailed me with a one year free trial subscription for the other major off-road app which has made me realize the CarPlay TOR app is lacking. It would be great if the CarPlay interface would also show waypoint to waypoint pictures that it offers online and in the app and 3d mapping with elevation. Really my only critique is the CarPlay interface overall being limited compared to the many features TOR app offers. It seems the TOR app has much more engagement with both general users and people associate with the app despite the other competitor probably spending exorbitantly more money on advertising (forreal, can’t watch a single YouTube video without it turning into an OnX infomercial). That just attests to how great the app is.

The best resource possible for trails in Colorado. It literally never lets me down. Two thumbs up.

This app is amazing and love the offline map and how well it works. Love the track mode and follow so it shows you spots along the trail.

You won’t find an app that has more up to date and detailed info than TOR! This app has been my go to for years and while either checking trails prior to going or just daydreaming over maps it the first and only app I use and recommend! The mapping feature is great for planning future trips and the listing of completed trails helps show what you have done. This app had made the ability to go into new areas and locate trail networks a breeze! It cuts out the “fluff” and gives you pertinent information regarding trail difficulties and details that may cause you issues if you attempt it.
  • Best Offroad App

Been using this app for several years and it keeps getting better and better with more releases. The detail of the trail guides are top notch and they are all created with boots on the ground. If you are heading offroad, this is the app to get.

I have a 4x4 subaru, so i’m confused as to why it’s not an option..?
  • Needs UI refresh badly

It’s a really strong app, with great info, but suffers for a strange UI. Example: you can’t click the reviews at the top of a trail to go to reviews, you have to scroll down manually. Many menus and trail menus also don’t really make sense.
  • Trails you can trust!

I love that every single trail on Trails Offroad has had tires on the dirt. I’ve used some of the “bigger” off road apps and was left disappointed or even angry by the lack of information about the trail and/or the trail not even existing! That really sucks after driving an hour to the trailhead only to find out it hasn’t had a vehicle on it since the ‘90s.
  • Second to None

There are so many great things about this app. When it comes to detailed trail research, it’s second to none. The trail rating system is clearly laid out, the built-in waypoints are extremely useful, and most (if not all) of the All Access Trails include videos. The last time I was in Big Bear, a buddy and I spent an evening watching the videos for the trails we planned to run the next day. That, combined with the follow-along navigation feature, made the whole experience super smooth. Recently, I’ve started using the Lists feature to organize and share trail runs with friends. Having a centralized place to bounce around ideas is a huge improvement over endless back and forth text messages. Fantastic job, guys. I love the app!
