  • Used to be great

I have used Epocrates for well over 20 years. They are now charging to actually use the app for drug searches. Apparently it’s time to find a new app. To bad.

This is a wonderful product, easy to use, versatile, and consistently accurate. However, the newest version will not allow the app to be used at all if a VPN is turned on. What, taking all of our data and showing us the ads is not enough for the creators, they need to be all creepy and follow us around too?
  • The pop up ads are really annoying.

When you need to look a medication up quickly, getting hit with a pop ad is really a bad idea.
  • What happened to free drug info?

I have been an epocrates user since 2001. As a pharmacist it is quicker for me to acces the general drug info in my app than it is to go through the computer at my pharmacy. However, and I have tried to look this up online to find out what is in the free version currently, I am only able to look up 1 or 2 drugs A WEEK! Online it says basic drug info is available but not the extras (which I do not need). I used to love this app, but unless the free version reverts to allowing drug lookup as it was before the last update I will be deleting this after 25 years. I am so disappointed.
  • Garbage

Don’t use this app. I’ve used Epocrates for years. It used to be good. It used to be useful. Now it’s complete junk. The app is now useless unless you pay them. They want you to pay for information that is free. The in-app purchase is stupid expensive and the app is now filled with garbage that practicing physicians do not need. That’s nothing more than bogus nonsense to justify ripping people off with fees. Scummy greed.

Despite bombarding you with pop-up ads, they now restrict searches. It used to be a great app, now it’s useless without a subscription. I will delete this app and use open evidence. Don’t get this app.
  • Now charging for “free views”

After using this app for nearly 11 years, they have now put a limit on my “free views” per week. As a physician, I use this app daily to check dosing before prescribing. I do this while in the patient room and I need to do it quickly. Why? Because patients do not want to see us googling. Other apps take far too long. It is unacceptable to start charging simply to “view” drug information. The number of various subscriptions required simply to perform basic job duties as a physician is now untenable. I can no longer keep track of the numerous greedy apps I am forced to pay for and manage monthly in order to access information that should be free and widely available. Looking up drug information is by no means a premium feature. This is the app that the vast majority of physicians use for quick reference and to avoid medication errors. We should NOT have to pay $15 per month simply to NOT kill people. LIMITING PHYSICIAN ACCESS TO VITAL DRUG INFO ACTIVELY HARMS PATIENTS. FIX NOW
  • What happened to epocrates?

I've been a loyal Epocrates user since med school, and I've watched them strip out the good stuff and lock it behind "Epocrates +," while the free version gets buried in ads and useless articles. Drug pricing info comes and goes. Formularies have always been a gamble. Then today, I go to search for a drug and get hit with: "You've reached your free views for this week." Of course, the paid version is now a subscription instead of a one-time purchase and given how aggressively everything's been getting paywalled, I'm sure we're not far from an "Epocrates Super +" that demands a second subscription. It's just sad watching a once-great app get systematically gutted from the inside.

When did the free version of Epocrates start limiting the number of views per week?

Been using Epocrates since 2000. It was my go to database for quick lookup of drug information and formularies. Just noticed there is limited weekly views unless upgrade to Epocrates+ versus online version
