I have been using this app as a part of my fitness journey for the last couple of years. I have often noticed that when I am hiking and need to take a moment to rest, my calorie burn keeps going up even if I am sitting still. I originally assumed maybe this was just to account for the fact that my heart rate was still up and I possibly could be burning more calories from that. I also wondered if the app was really keeping track of the difference in calories burned from going at an extremely fast pace versus a slow pace and whether it accounted for elevation changes, like hiking up a steep incline versus walking on a flat easy surface. Everything I read online said that the app factored those things in. But I was suspicious, so I put it to an extreme test as follows: 1. I sat in one spot for 10 minutes and let this app “track“ my hike. It actually showed considerable calories burned, as if I were actually exercising. I tracked this and noted the calorie burn. 2. I then started over, got in my car and drove 60 mph on a highway uphill in a mountainous area. The calorie burn was exactly identical to when I was doing nothing! Conclusion: there is no possible way the app is keeping track of your actual speed and elevation change when it calculates calories. It is just using a simple formula based on your weight and height and the number of minutes in a given activity. But if you sit still and do nothing, it will still tell you that you burned calories. And if you work extremely hard, there will be no difference.

Am I missing where the cost is mentioned in the information in App Store? I would have liked to known the price before spending time signing up. Didn’t even try app. I don’t sign up for free trials.
  • Not as smart as it should be

I’ve used the app for about three years, get the job done, but it’s just not smart enough to realize when you stopped your walk/bike/hike. You just keep recording as you stop your motion for hours or drive off.

I adopted a sweet little dachshund mix boy who has turned my life upside down! He demands at least 3 walks a day and me being a 55 year old potato this wasn't easy. However I figured if I had to walk I was going to keep track and that's how I found this app. I love this app. It absolutely motivates me when the info is all there in front of me. I even joined a challenge and completed it! Charlie and I now have a set route and we walk 3/ 4 mile every day. I've walked almost 9 miles in the last 2 months. This time last year I was wheelchair dependent. 9 miles is a BIG deal and I am stronger now than I have been in years. We're going to start walking further when I get a pack to carry him. His short little legs are only strong enough for the 1/4 mile 3 times per day so with a pack I can let him rest and push myself onward. I have goals I want to meet by end of summer and that is just crazy to me. Charlie and this app are the best things that have happened to me in a very long time. ☺️🐾❤️
