i’ve been looking for a free meditation app that doesn’t constantly ask for your money. this app is genuinely so amazing and has helped me so much with my anxiety and clinic depression. i’ve been using it all the time because they have so many different meditation tracks (morning, night, etc.), music and grounding videos, breath work guides, yoga, literally anything you can think of. if you don’t like one of the meditation tracks, you can always pick another. i am absolutely so grateful to have come across this app.

I have been using this app for about 7 years I guess. I have paid the USD$50+ for the “plus” membership a few times. This app was originally recommended to me by my therapist (DBT) as a meditation tool; it was fun to meditate with a virtual community, see the map with dots, get msgs of affirmation from strangers - others Seeking. I “discovered” stoicism and the Tao. I followed various teachers and learned a lot. I fell in puppy love with Sarah Blondin. This app was a major, positive part of my life. However, over the last couple of years this app has gone from a positive tool for insight and connection, and become “nagware” and everything I detest in our increasingly two dimensional, digital lives. I am an organic, biological being - not an AI avatar. I should not have to pretend to “set an intention,”or say “I’m committed” or any other one sided, fake bs. This is not real anymore - and that’s distressing I expressed this concern (nagware) to the developers a year ago when i cancelled my expensive annual subscription. But nothing has changed, it’s getting worse. now I have nothing thanks

I rarely leave reviews. I’ve been using this app for 10 years or so. This app keeps getting more and more annoying to use with screens that you can’t skip, reminders, new features, and pointless things that keep you from doing the one thing the app is meant to do: which is to meditate. Please implement the ability to permanently skip take over screens. Do not ever take away the ability to skip screens for your users. It is frustrating. Do not lose sight of the one priority that people have when they open your app to use it. If you continue trying to push people in different directions, your app loses focus, and then it loses users.
  • Use it consistently. It will change your life for good.

This app is a lifesaver. It offered so many amazing, easy to learn courses to help a beginner get started in meditation. I never thought I’d be someone who meditates daily. With Insight Timer, it feels insane not to come back daily because it’s my grounding place, a safe harbor of total refuge from the incredibly busy and chaotic life that I live as a working mom. If you struggle with chronic stress and anxieties, and medication just doesn’t seem right or work for you, give this app an earnest try. It’s helped me in ways I never thought possible.

I’ve been using this app since 2019 when I first started to get serious about my mindfulness practices. I coma back to it when I really need support and all the features it has are amazing to keep track of my journey. I love the meditations and the diversity of practices.

Didn’t warn or give me the option to cancel before the free subscription was over. I was immediately billed $66. Will be cancelling this app soon.
  • Content is great. UI sucks.

This app has fantastic content. But the user interface isn’t great. There is no consistent menu you can access, no way to see an overview of the courses when you are doing them to easily return to one of the previous days if you’d like, you only get access to the session you’re in. No way to bookmark an area inside a course or mediation you want to return too. Once you’re done with a meditation they force you through a series of questions, etc… I hope they can make some changes so the user has more options on how they want to maneuver through the app. Right now it feels very limited and controlled.
