Unfortunately greed has overtaken the BBC app I get putting materials behind a paywall, but doing it for breaking news is going too far!

For further information and analysis on why I deleted the app. Please subscribe. My full complaint is only $12 per month.

If I am paying you. I should not have to click through pop-up ads!
  • Paid app - pop up adds

Giving this a one star review as the pop up adds are insane. Why am I paying almost $100/ year and have to close adds multiple times a day as the settings are so sensitive that by swiping past the adds they open up. Very annoying - starting to look at alternative news services.

I am really disappointed that I paid my subscription for this year. I will definitely cancel it and not renew it. The new BBC site is extremely annoying because just scrolling is so sensitive it triggers a connection to an ad. The ads on all the videos are long and you have to watch them through. I can't cancel my subscription and get money back, like many news subscriptions. I will stick to my other news sites, in New York Times, Washington Post, and The Guardian. I believe in free news and I am willing to pay and that's why I subscribe to the good news organizations, but BBC has gone downhill.
  • Was good, now useless

I didn’t mind the ad-supported version because this was the best news source. Now they’ve completely broken the app where it still sends me the headlines, but it immediately crashes or tells me I don’t have access to the story. Deleted.
  • Massive ads everywhere

They put in screen wide adds that are so big you’ll accidentally open then when scrolling. I had to switch to other news sites because it’s impossible to read anything with safari auto opening every 10 seconds because I dared to try and scroll to read the article.
  • Stupid paywall money grab

Stop using this as app as it’s now shamelessly targeting Americans as the only ones who need to pay to access this app
  • No news is good news

I used to trust BBC as a reliable international news source. Now everything is behind a paywall. So much for integrity.
  • Costs money now
