As a US resident BBC News has been my primary source for world news and impartial reporting. Beyond disappointed that the free version has beer replaced with a subscription. I understand businesses need to make money but taking away access to a trusted news source is frustrating.

Extremely disappointed. Now I find every article locked behind a pay wall or page subscription. It’s a shame. It was my favorite news source from the sensationalism in the US news apps. Deleted app

Used to read BBC all the time, loved the articles but now that it’s all locked behind a subscription it’s time to find a different news source 😕

Just like the USA today and CNN app. The BBC app has been “subscribed” to the delete list.

The US needs reliable news at this time more than any. We are under siege from within, BBC is relief from the madness.

This used to be the best news app for years. Now it’s swarmed with ads and has a limit for how many free articles you can read. Worse yet, the subscription changes NOTHING! You will still see the same number of ads, if not more! Completely defeats the purpose of paying for a subscription.
  • Annoying ad.

Please redo the ad on your app. About 4x a day I accidentally click on it. And I know you need the ad money but I’m a paid subscribers. Please reset so I don’t scroll on news and click on some lame ad.

It’s a sad day losing the BBC to a subscription model. One of the last bastions of quality and unbiased journalism will now cost you $9/month (or whatever their dynamic pricing thinks they’re worth to you) I think this is a miscalculation from the strategy team. Whatever cash is made from this pivot won’t ever be worth the amount of soft power lost by making it. On top of that, it’s not cheap. And gets more expensive based on how much you use it. A model that makes perfect sense if you’re renting a car, but far less if you would like people to read your news publication. If you’re going to make this change, start off slower or risk losing a large portion of your foreign readers.
