Description

Fort Solis is a riveting story-driven thriller on the Red Planet An experience envisioned by the developers: A uniquely singular cinematic experience! The story is told across four chapters. Like a Netflix series, Fort Solis can be binged in one intense session, or played chapter by chapter like an episodic TV show. Welcome to Fort Solis Responding to an unusual emergency call from a remote mining base, Jack arrives at the dark and desolate Fort Solis. With storm warnings imminent, he heads inside to make desperate contact. As the night grows longer, events escalate, spiral out of control, and the mystery of what happened to the crew begins to reveal itself. The storm is approaching, limiting Jack’s escape as he looks to hold out until morning arrives. Immersive Storytelling Fort Solis looks to deliver a high-fidelity experience designed to completely immerse the player in the cast and their long night. With performances from Roger Clark, Troy Baker, and Julia Brown, Fort Solis looks to deliver emotion, fear, empathy, and much more with every chapter. Supporting the core story are additional narrative instances such as audio logs, surveillance footage, and parts of the past that lead to present events. Accompanying those are video logs recorded by the crew detailing the events before and after that night the alarm was triggered at Fort Solis… Grounded by the Visuals! Fort Solis brings players the next level of details and facial and body animations. With the help of Unreal Engine 5.2, Fort Solis’ realistic universe is brought to life! An Isolated Mining Complex The skeleton of Fort Solis is built above and below ground. The base contains a variety of locations each with their own surface and sub-surface levels. Players will be able to explore the isolated stormy surface, the creepy service tunnels absent of light, or the multiple departments that help Fort Solis function on a day-to-day basis such as Engineering, Medical, and Communications. As the story unfolds, locations can easily be revisited for additional story context or continue to serve as a backdrop to the fate that awaits Jack with each passing hour.

  • Four stars for theme… about all though

Four stars because I love the space environment for the foundation of a game. This game reminds me of 1981’s Outland with Sean Connery. Set in space with an element of murder and suspense. I’m a fan of Blade Runner and the future robots that are out of control and need to be “retired”. Anything along these lines gets four stars for me. But this is where it ends. Everything here from the terrible movement of the players to the laggy nature of the game on Apples newest MacBook Pro M5 make me wonder how you program a game to be laggy on this fast of a chip. The story line is weak and there are no weapons to speak of. This is third person orientation and laggy and frustrating to control. Very little to pick up in the environment. Once again, no weapons and transit to first person combat is included. When the game was over I was very disappointed in the game. Such a waste of potential and terrible implementation. It was fun to play… just once. My favorite games I play over and over again. Third person “over the shoulder” control is just terrible. No first person combat? Come on. No weapons? Come on! This is more of a story line than a good game. It might be worth 15.00 at the most due to lag and difficulty controlling players.
  • Laggy

The game is laggy. I have a Mac mini M2 8gb RAM. Most games play pretty smoothly. This game is over priced and barely playable. I suffered thru the lag (lowest settings) for about 2 hours and boom the game is over. I can see the potential in this game but totally not worth it at the moment. Needs major updates and more DLC to even contemplate the price tag.
  • Good, but needs to fix the resolution bug

On MacBook Pro M2 14", default resolution made the game unplayable at any settings and it couldn't be adjusted from the graphics setting menu - it was just stuck on the ultra high resolution. I found a work around where I adjusted the system resolution to the lowest possible, then started up the game and switched it to windowed mode in the graphics settings, adjusted the size of the window until it fit on the screen and then expanded it back to full-screen. This somehow made it playable and after doing this I was even able to use alt-tab and the three finger swipe to switch between this application and others. Still, if I hadn't discovered this workaround I would have considered my money wasted. Please fix for future players! The game itself is captivating, but rather short.

If your game is laggy, set graphics to low, lower the resolution and turn off camera smoothing in the controls settings. Also, why does this game lock you out of basic OS functions? You cant CMD Tab, switch desktops, or use any other app. It's caused several problems for me.
  • Lags, Unplayable

I bought the game despite the many other reviews saying it lags, thinking my M1 Macbook Pro bought handle it but, alas, it did not. Lagged to point of unplayable. I was bummed! I wanted to fall in love with this game.
  • Roadblock in the First 5 minutes

I'm frustrated. Got to the point in the first part of the story where Jack needs to swing on a cable to advance. Shouldn't be difficult, but instead, Jack just swings one way, then returns to center. Swings the other way, but the "pendulum" stops in the middle. So I'm stuck. Disappointed that I apparently have wasted my money.

  • Incredibly Short and Linear

I had high hopes but this gae is way to short, very linear in that you do it ONE WAY only, and I didn't even understand what the story was here! just not worth it.

Played on a M2 Pro (16" MBP) and didn't notice too many performance issues, maybe a stutter or two here and there. The environment is super immersive and the voice acting is superb.
