Very obtuse app. I would give I a 0 zero if I could. No easy way to add or delete a location. I don’t recommend this app to anyone. My frustration led me to deleted the app.

Rainfall totals have been off anywhere from.5 to.75 inches, usually on the shy side.
  • Great app

I really do like the app, except for the fact that it only allows you 14 placements a day. Which when you’re trying to find a hayfield in an unknown location, you run out of spots quickly.
  • Best weather app, hands-down!

I am a bit of a weather nut, with paid/premium subscriptions to several popular weather apps. When I came across the precip.ai app a couple of months ago, I decided to give it a try. The app quickly became my favorite weather app, and the one I use more often than any other weather app. In order to access the full range of the app's offerings, I upgraded to a paid subscription plan, which in my view is well worth the rather modest cost. The app can serve as a general weather forecast app, and it does a perfectly fine job at that, comparable to what is avaible through other popular weather apps. However, the main focus of precip.ai is on precipation data and precipitation forecasts, and in that regard this app is unparalleled in what it offers: I am not aware of any other app on the market that comes close to offering the amount of precipitation data and forecasts that precip.ai provides. The historical data provided includes total amounts of precipation at any given location in the US over the last 12 hours, 24 hours, 2 days, 7 days, 30 days, etc., year-to-date totals, deviations from historical averages, and more. Forecast data includes probabilities of precipitation and predicted daily rain totals for the next 14 days, along with a handy "Next precip" feature that shows the predicted time and day of the next precipitation event, along with the estimated totals. By default, these forecasts are based on Precip.ai's own forecast model, but there is an option to show predictions by other forecast models such as the European (ECMWF) and American (NOAA) models, alongside the Precip.ai prediction. This is a very useful feature as it indicates how much consensus there is among different forecast models, and hence how reliable a given forecast is. The app is still in the early stages of development, and the first version I had downloaded a couple of months ago had some (mostly minor) issues. However, the developers have been very responsive to bug reports and suggestions for the app, and the current version is a much more mature product, with many new features added in. All in all, precip.ai is, far and away, the most interesting and most innovative new entry into the weather forecast app market I have seen in the 10+ years I have followed this market.
