The CookShelf App has made my cookbook collection so much more useable! Being able to search by ingredients is a game-changer and I also find it very helpful to quickly search for specific recipes from specific books. I love being able to save notes, ratings and changes to recipes I’ve cooked, as well—all in the App. I have rediscovered some real gems on my own bookshelves—Thank you!

From my brief use of the Cookshelf app, I can tell that it will be really helpful to me. I’m not great at Meal Planning, but I think I can manage it better using Cookshelf. I also love that you can check the ingredients of a recipe while you are at the grocery store, just in case you forgot something or want to pursue a new idea. It’s a great companion to Eat Your Books, which I love,love,love. I think it may take a few days to get Cookshelf figured out, but I look forward to exploring what Cookshelf can do.

As an avid cook with a cookbook collection of nearly 400, this app is a complete game changer. I can search every recipe in my collection by ingredient!

I love the idea but most of my cookbooks are not in their data base so you can request to have it indexed or index it yourself . But first you need to read the indexing module. A lot of work but worth it in the end.

I’m liking this app so far. Especially when I’m at the grocery store & i want to meal plan/meal prep for the night or the week. It is a little disappointing that the ingredients list don’t give to the measurements from the book. But no big deal. It is also handy that it gives you the page number for the recipe so you can go home & pop open the book when ready to start cooking. Now, the only reason for the 4 star rate is because the app had missing ingredients on the list. I made a peanut butter cake from an old Betty Crocker cookbook that my grandma passed down to me, & it was missing items on list. Thankfully it was a recipe I made before discovering this app. Otherwise, a trip back to the store would have been a pain.

I collect cookbooks. Anytime I have a new hobby I must find the cookbook to go with it. This app has changed up how I do dinner as before I had so many cookbooks I started to favor some over the others. Now I search whatever meat I have and try new recipes from books I hadn't opened in awhile or really got to test out.

I was so looking forward to upload my favorite books and use the recipes from my phone or tablet. There are no measurements/ingredient amounts showing in the recipes and it admittedly could leave out ingredients. The recipes direct you back to the cookbook. With upgrades, this is a great idea but without the full recipes, it’s not practical at all.

The app asked me for books, then seemed to take a long time to “index” the books I entered. None of them actually ended up getting indexed, and since the app claimed it wouldn’t give recipes, I’m kind of unsure what the app is supposed to do. I enter ingredients and it tells me which cook book to go to? I suppose that could be useful, but so could just flipping to my popular bookmarked pages and buying the ingredients a day ahead.

I like to plan out my meals for the week and then shop for what I need for those meals. Today at the grocery store, I couldn't find an ingredient for a salad I had planned. But with CookShelf on my phone, I was able to look up recipes using what was available. The whole recipe wasn’t there, but the ingredients I needed to make it were listed. I didn’t have to go home, find another recipe for that night, and make another shopping trip. Yeah!

I have so many cookbooks and this is just an amazing tool for getting more use out of them! I love seeing what other people are making from the books I have, and reading their comments. I can search for an ingredient I have and see what recipes I can make. I think the cost is very justified when you consider the work that goes into indexing.
