The player gently folds betel leaves, smears slaked lime, slices areca and arranges the finished quids on a lacquer tray to honour ancestors and welcome guests — striving for the highest **hospitality refinement** and the quiet approval of the elders. The game celebrates the dignity, care and cultural meaning of the betel-chewing custom — a centuries-old emblem of kinship, marriage and hospitality in Vietnam. ## How to play ### Goal Each **occasion** has its own custom (the number of quids, the fitting fold style, the ideal amount of lime, the areca count, whether symmetry and decoration are expected). The player's task is to prepare the tray as **faithfully and beautifully** as possible. ### Steps at the Preparation Table 1. **Choose a leaf fold** — each carries a symbolic meaning: - *Plain fold* — humble, for ordinary days. - *Fan fold* — an attentive welcome. - *Lotus-bud fold* — serene remembrance. - *Cross-weave fold* — a sign of careful hands. - *Swallowtail fold* — glad spring tidings. - *Phoenix-wing fold* — the most regal, reserved for weddings. 2. **Smear lime** — drag the slider to judge the amount. Too much or too little upsets the balance. 3. **Slice areca** — add from 0 to 4 areca slices. 4. **Marigold petal** — toggle the decoration to suit the occasion. 5. **Place on tray** — tap *Place on tray* or tap an empty slot directly. Tap a placed quid to take it back and re-fold it. 6. When the tray feels right, tap **Present offering** to have the elders judge it. The **Elder's regard** meter on the table responds subtly: the closer a quid matches the occasion's custom, the fuller it grows and the warmer it glows toward gold — the quiet nod of an elder.
