STUPID FREAKING COINS (at least it helps them stay functional) BUT I SWEAR-

Update: I have demoted to 1 star from 2 as Ive removed the app from my phone. The lack of ability to report ads, the fact a “virus detected” spam banner showed up on a comic I had reported ad pass issues with (this is a phish, dont click) in a message box over the episode browser indicates webtoons has relinquished all control. If I cant even browse the app without encountering ads much less the content itself, there’s too much risk of tracking and bad action. I have been frustratingly redirected to websites mid read and due to the nature of scroll to read, this is hard to avoid. It is a shame to all the creators but I will try to support my faves elsewhere. Parents: dont let your kids download the app. Use this in a web browser there is too much risk. Kids: use a web browser. Most of the games advertised are designed to get you addicted to gambling. Pros: So much creativity! There are many talented and amazing artists worthy of attention Cons: - predatory ads and sale of your information leads to virus / phishing attacks. Ad pass consistently does not work. The ad situation is what finally led me to remove the app from my phone. - hate the removal of the daily section, which limits discovery and limits you to their recommendations. They are removing all the serendipity from the app and just trying to make it another algorithm fueled machine. - Naver stands to treat and pay its creators much better - content skews heavily towards romance and I fear with the removal of the daily section, smaller non romance creators will suffer - Absolutely arbitrary delineation of mature content. I have seen so many innocuous creators flagged for inappropriate content while other materials with incredibly adult themes is not listed as mature, this includes violence and abusive relationships. If you are a parent I encourage you to vet all materials, as well as avoid this per the predatory ads. - payment system locks users in. Treat this as a subscription system.

i am fed up with the number of times i’ve accidentally paid for an episode that would be free with an ad. this has happened like 10x. free ad should be the default or there should be a confirmation screen or something. and they started to roll out comics that you have to pay to unlock, which kind of ruins the whole webtoon premise. and the free coins expire so quick. it’s just soooo greedy 😔

This app is a nightmare to use. It used to be, you paid to read chapters early. Now you have to pay to read anything. Ads are everywhere and obnoxious. Nonsense pops up on your screen all the time. This app is better for watching ads than it is for reading webcomics. I used to drop 30 or so usd a month on this thing for years to read webcomics. Since all the terrible changes, I haven’t spent anything. You’re better off finding your webcomics elsewhere.

The app crashes most of the time you open on iPad if you have lockdown mode enabled.

The introduction of fast passes was genuinely the downfall of this app. It’s such a money grab to have 10 episodes available but only let people ready one or two with the rest locked unless you pay to read them. I was here before it and it’s the worst addition you guys have added thus far.
