Web streaming quality is 480 maybe 720. The ios app wont even let me login, the login screen refreshes before I can put in my credentials. A failing service in every aspect… terrible tech stack all around.
Scam

I paid for the subscription, all content had a lock icon on it and made me pay a second time, still wouldn’t play after i did so.
Does this warrant the price

Pricing has gotten out of control. 5-15 dollar a year increase consistently every year. I started in 2021, passing in 2026. Might come back when price matches service instead of constant price hikes.
Absolute trash

Shudder's LOVELY new update won't even let you LOG IN. Ditch the app atp, just use HBO Max or Tubi
Cant even use the tv app when i have paid

Shudder’s horrible updates prompt my account signed in on my tv to make me pay for another subscription while I have been subscribed for monthly basis. This app can be a huge Waste of money for people who actually care about horror movies. Its stuff like this that makes Moving back to physical media alot less stressful & unregretted. Update your apps to work, theres seriously no reason for this to happen
Must have app

I am a huge horror movie fan. I do remember one day in school. I was on my iPad browsing for streaming services that have horror movies. I came up on a movie called the Texas chainsaw massacre, that came out in 1974, I downloaded the app shutter, when I came across it, I tried it out, everything works fine, no bugs, and no glitches whatsoever on my iPad, But I also love the Grindhouse era from the 60s and 70s, I would also love to see a Grindhouse section on shutter, and I would also love to see. I would also love to have the shot on video section, and I would also love to see some shorts here on shutter, But my favorite movie that I’ve been enjoying here on shutter, it is the sadness, it is extreme, but I like it, I would also love to see an extreme underground horror collection here on shutter, you guys do a pretty good job, keep it up and keep going But the one problem, is that there’s no audio descriptions, but I also love to watch shutter TV here on the app and there’s a movie that would also love to see on shutter called the burning moon, so keep adding more movies and keep it up, Shutter, forever,
Broken App

I recently subscribed and had no issues intill the most recent update. The app is almost unusable constantly signing me out and constantly not loading or it completely stops streaming. The biggest issue for me is no movie info no cast info no director info no language info and no country info.
Also there is absolutely no customer service contact info just a bunch of useless guides.
I will be canceling next month if not resolved.
Horrible movie app

Spend your money elsewhere
How could they make it worse?

This app has always been awful, yet somehow they took it to a new low.
Now, movies have even shorter descriptions, they don’t tell you the language, nor country of origin, and I have to pull out my phone to know anything about the movies on here.
We pay for a subscription, and effectively never watch anything on it anymore because discovery is too many steps harder.
Collections are now all fire-y looking, and one is indistinguishable from the other. Less information than ever, too.
The app was awful in its previous incarnation, mind you, but I’d take that over the latest version in a heartbeat.

Between the cancellation of TLDI and the new app interface, my very favorite streaming service that airs in my home 24/7 got a 1-star review from me last week. After having spent a little more time acclimating as I’m admittedly averse to change, I’m now prepared to give it the review it deserves.
Realistically, due to navigation and streaming issues, the aforementioned cancellation of Joe Bob and the fact that I can’t get any information about a title - including what language it’s in - until I begin watching it, my rating should be 3 stars at best. That said, Shudder has all the content I want in one place, and I’m consistently inspired to watch movies I wouldn’t ordinarily think to watch but do simply because I enjoy an overwhelming percentage of what Shudder has to offer.
I remain concerned that this long overdue and ultimately disappointing app update is a move to roll Shudder and its subscribers onto AMC+. I’ve had AMC+ and all I watched was the Shudder content - and I need the live channel that comes only with a subscription directly to Shudder - so I hope I’m wrong.
My one additional pain point is the 3-4 minute commercials that now air between every film on the live channel. I don’t mind watching credits. I don’t mind watching trailers for new releases. I do mind watching trailers for AMC+ titles as well as Shudder titles I’ve seen several dozen times (I mean the films, not the ads, but the statement is true of both). Previously, Shudder aired one 3-4 minute commercial per month max and only between the first and second films on TLDI. Now they’re airing the same commercials and haven’t even removed the “Stay Tuned for More Joe Bob” verbiage from the upper left corner of the screen. That’s super lazy and thanks for continually rubbing in the cancellation of Joe Bob.
I still love Shudder though. And finally being able to pause/rewind/fast-forward on the live channel - which now has a guide! - is a game changer.
