Perplexity - AI Search & Chat

Virtually useless as an assistant for the past week or so. Usually this is temporary when it happens. Did you guys break it permanently this time? Thanks.

The title says it all

I subscribed to Perplexity Pro mainly because of how Perplexity Computer was presented, and I came away feeling misled by the credit system. The platform has real strengths — solid deep‑research tools and useful AI features — but the way credits are consumed and presented made the experience frustrating enough that I canceled my renewal. What went wrong for me: creating projects consumed large chunks of my monthly credits with no clear warning beforehand. There was no prompt like “this action will use X% of your monthly credits,” so I only realized how limited my allowance was after it was already gone. Even more confusing, the same credits are required to continue interacting with or using generated projects when AI features are involved, so you can be charged once to create something and again to meaningfully use it. That distinction wasn’t clear when I subscribed. I also expected Pro to surface a broader range of sources and perspectives. The branding and marketing gave the impression of wider coverage, but in my regular use I often saw sourced articles clustered around very similar viewpoints and repeated framing. Prompting for more diversity rarely produced the spectrum of perspectives I wanted. Reliability was another concern. Perplexity usually performed well, but when it made mistakes they sometimes involved important factual details central to the stories being summarized, which undermines trust for research or news use. I still use Perplexity occasionally for experimentation and creative tasks, and the platform isn’t useless. But Pro’s credit model and how features are presented need to be far more transparent and consumer‑friendly. If Perplexity offered a free or deeply discounted month that clearly unlocked the advertised features (and explained credit costs up front), I’d try Pro again and update this review. Bottom line: Good tools, poor billing clarity. Fix the credit transparency and clarify what Pro actually unlocks, and this would be a much stronger product.

Great app besides the image generation limitations

Stop falling for these middleman apps! They charge you for limited features and can shut down your access anytime without warning. It's much smarter to go directly to the source like Gemini or ChatGPT. You get more creative freedom, better opportunities, and long-term stability there. Don't waste your money on clones when the originals are right in front of you!

Perplexity Pro Computer uses quite a few AI processes where I can request it seek and read historical documents or match levels of expert publications along with Documentation since I often do cutting edge research. It can be scholarly or sharp tongued depending on the audience. The picture prompts are next level with both hook pictures and captivating hook titles. Complex juxtaposition pictures within pictures can blow you away. My audience is 2.3 million a year and Perplexity when expertly prompted can break even news ahead of Fox and the alphabet single string media.

I really liked Perplexity at first, but it’s time for me to move on. Day by day, it keeps getting worse. Features I already paid for barely work anymore, while the restrictions keep piling up. If you want fewer limits, apparently you need to be ready to drop $200+ a month, and even then it still struggles with basic things like working properly with a VPN, despite having a Pro subscription. At this point, it’s slowing down my workflow more than helping it. If you’re deciding which AI platform to invest your time and money into, I honestly wouldn’t recommend Perplexity. Mark my words: within a year it’ll probably become even more expensive while offering less functionality. Want the “full all-in-one experience”? Be prepared to hand over half your salary for it.

This is probably one of the most intuitive apps ever. Helps you in creating prompts and teaches you how to articulate what you want, a game-changer! The other apps, ChatGPT & Gemini, should learn from them.

This app has gone downhill fast. I’m a Pro subscriber, but half the features don’t even work. The AI has become incredibly "stupid" and fails to follow simple instructions. To make matters worse, they randomly lock or delete accounts without any explanation. Save your money and use something else. This is absolute trash.

Free works for me but now it seems that it requires me to pay for an upgrade
