Graphic and style wise this game is very delightful to behold. Gameplay wise, I did not move to purchase as it felt like there wasn’t much mystery or puzzle in each scene. Each clue is marked before exploring so it feels like your hand is being held and there’s nothing to chew on. Puzzle wise, it’s just very obvious blanks to fill in. It gave me the impression that I would spend around 7$ for a 15 min experience.

I had to stop by to review this Collection before I finished the last Chapter that’s currently available. Love, love, love this! I’m amazed at how perfectly the difficulty is scaling up: Doable without hints, but one is not just zipping through these scenes without some careful thought! As others have said, not initially my favorite graphics style, but, oddly, it has kind if grown on me as I’ve played. . . . I have had a few issues moving between Chapters, but these always resolved when I closed and reopened the game. Totally worth the purchase price! Let’s come up with some more quirky characters, please! Can’t wait to investigate the next mystery!

Every time the app quits it loses all progress. I’ve played the first two scenes several times. It always starts as if I’ve just installed it. I’ve tried deleting and re-installing. At this point, the game is unplayable.

I had a lot of fun playing this. The puzzles cause you to think, but are not difficult to the point you get frustrated. The storylines also are super interesting and kept me engaged. I also really liked the art style!! Would recommend!

I rarely write reviews on the App Store, but this is for my favorite game. I played The Rise of the Golden Idol on Netflix and fell in love with it. Unfortunately, it was unavailable in my region after I had finished half the game (I cannot find it anywhere else on mobile). Then after a long time, this masterpiece was released and I immediately purchased it and it was worth every penny. It is very smart that the way the hints are placed and the backstory all link together. Solvable but also hard enough to keep me playing and find out the secrets behind. I really hope that The Rise of the Golden Idol and its DLCs could be downloaded on the App Store soon because it is very convenient to play on a phone. Love this franchise so much.

I reaaally wanted to like this game. The game was a little laggy, but if that was the only issue, I wouldn’t be here. After I played the first two free chapters, I purchased the rest of the game. I played a few levels then left for a little while. When I relaunch the app, it logged into my Game Center account, but said everything was locked. I went to the settings, hit the “restore purchase button” and nothing happened. I tried to select “buy full game” from the pop-up to see if it would recognize I purchased it already, but nothing happened. I’ve launched the game directly from my App Store, where it indicates a purchase, and- you guessed it- nothing happened. I don’t know what’s going on, but it’s really frustrating since I thought it was a pretty cool game.

I am so glad that there is now a standalone version of this app. I played through when it was on Netflix games and missed being able to step back in when it left that service. The graphics have a distinctive style that I don’t totally love but they work and oddly fit the narrative. Some of the deduction puzzles are very difficult and I only. Passed by trying a few things but I remember being frustrated very infrequently. The answers actually make sense and you do get the information needed to solve everything. Great on mobile because you can pick it up and put it down quickly or take time with it.
