Tired of bringing asked to subscribe or sign in when I have a subscription. May cancel because of this inconvenience. Too many other options for sports news.

This is my go-to for sports news.

What used to be a fantastic source of creative writing and unique stories has become clickbait superficial slop. The app itself promotes stories that are up to five days old, and some algorithm predicts what content you like instead of the most recent stories. Also the search bar is absolutely worthless - I mean you’re better off using google’s results if you want to find an article. Super disappointing.

Cannot block nfl draft notifications so you get a 1 only because I can’t give you a negative number
  • They don’t care about your preferences

I don’t follow NBA on Athletic. And yet I go to the front page and it is inundated with NBA articles. They don’t listen to your preferences when you select them so don’t even bother.

The Athletic thinks they are to only worthy news source in sports. Wish companies that what customer loyalty understand more the value of what they charge for their service. When value of sports catches up with real interest of what athletes are being paid these days will help average people to understand why their value must be in the forefront.
  • No local news

Since its acquisition they’ve cut a lot of the beat reporting. No better than espn now
  • Ads back on podcasts

This time seems more nefarious than the last. Clearly there was enough backlash less than a year ago when they added ads to podcasts to change course. They’ve done it again, maybe in hopes people will be apathetic. Why would you pay for ads? Makes no sense, and it’s not like the listening experience is better on the app at all.
  • Keep receiving notifications for news and sports I’m not interested in

I am a Dodgers fan and only want to receive push notifications for Dodgers news, game starts and results. I still receive notifications for other sports such as golf and the NFL on occasion, I only am interested in one topic, I pay for the Athletic, I shouldn’t be spammed by stories I am not interested in. I would not recommend a subscription.
