  • Best Carrot Cake

I received my NYT cooking email with the above entitled recipe. I never saw a recipe with over 1,000 5 star reviews and carrot cake with a glaze added after baking. So I made it for a luncheon I go to once a month. The ladies raved over it!!! They all wanted some to take home saying it was the best they ever had. I had none to take home. They ate it all! It is THE BEST recipe! Confession: I toned down the cream cheese to opposite ratios of butter vs cream cheese. Not a huge cream cheese fan.

This app provides so much variety and so many international recipes to choose from and the brief historical story behind each recipe is fun and often inspiring!

I’ve found several recipes that I really like.

    This is a recent bug.
  • Violation of Apple human interface guidelines?

For many years, tapping the “share button” on an iOS device brought you to the normal Apple share sheet. Here, NYT has interposed their own share sheet, meant to limit us paying customers to sharing info the way the NYT wants us to, not the way we want. Feels like less respect than NYT usually shows its readers.
  • Not showing private comments

I use the app frequently, but the iPad app stopped showing my private comments a day or two ago. Android app and website work fine. I am logged in, as I can see my recipe box, etc.
  • Just do it!!

I was reluctant at first to subscribe. Recipes are available online en masse, but this app is all you need to get down to business. The search filters help narrow down what you need based on complexity and concept. The instructions are clearly presented along with any quirk or tips that help. Comment section further helps screen for possible mishaps. I'm impressed and plan to use this for endless inspiration.
  • Too Many Ads for a Paying Subscriber

I used to love NYT cooking, but it’s starting to give cooking blog vibes. I’m starting to see full screen ads when I scroll for recipes, even as a paid subscriber. I’m sure I’m not the only one frustrated by this short sighted decision. Can you add an ad-free subscription option or only load a single ad upon loading?
  • Yes!

This is definitely a five star app. I am thoroughly enjoying using it. It’s only missing one thing: I would love it if I were able to upload photos and text of all of 70 years of MY favorite recipes that could be kept in a separate folder. Then I would have everything my little heart desires!
  • Fine app but lack of Apple Watch support sucks

I use the app a lot and unfortunately it no longer supports the Apple Watch app, which was super convenient.
