i have subscription and i’m still inundated with notifications and disruptions to pay even more money for their family plan, to watch their videos via their video tab, and other ads. don’t pay for this service thinking that it will make your reading experience better. it will not. and it will never.
  • NYT decided I don’t deserve to access content that I’m paying for as a subscriber

As a long time All-Access subscriber, I thoroughly enjoy this app. I use a 6th Generation iPad to view articles. Their most recent update causes loading issues on this device, with photos missing and formatting errors, making it difficult to navigate and not nearly as enjoyable to read. When I checked for an update, the new app requires iOS 18. My 6th Generation iPad tops out at iPadOS Version 17.7.11, so I cannot update the app. Annoying, but no big deal since I can still access content on my browser, right? Wrong- clicking on an article in my browser simply redirects me back to the app! So NYT is basically telling me that I, a paying customer, i deserve a subpar experience.
  • Rich resource in shrinking global resources for democracy and citizens

Franklin famously replied to the woman who asked what sort of government had the men emerging from the convention hall had established, “A democracy, madam, if you can keep it.” His comment was based on his belief, shared with Jefferson and others, that a free press was a necessary condition for informed voting. Today, voters and policy makers alike need information on events and governments, science, and economics across the globe, and few news organizations have the finances to deliver what is needed. The New York Times is one of the few institutions that have both the money and the knowledgeable people required across the world to supply what we voters need (and they have good sports writers, too)!! Cherish the NYT!

It provides NYT articles. In my app in iPhone it annoying shows all the photos of the underlying article. In wife’s version no annoying photos. Weird.

NYTimes continues to produce a great product even at a time when newspapers are having a hard time. Well worth a subscription.
  • Too biased

I find myself distrusting the reporting due to inherent progressive bias
  • A beacon in the dark

Democracy is hanging by a thread in these dark times. The NYT sets a standard in journalism and truth telling when we desperately need it.
  • Report it!

I love the NY T. It’s an extraordinary document of the times. Except when it fails to describe the presidents confused, outrageous, psychotic behavior. That is not an opinion— that is observable fact! The way you report on the most powerful person in the world , who also is out of control, is normalizing.
  • Continual advertising

Pop up ads asking to up the already paid subscription. Garbage app.
  • Poor loading on slower data

I love the NYT but other news apps are able to load content with slow internet - albeit slowly. The NYT app on the other hand doesn’t manage to load. Feels like table stakes app performance.
