I’ve been using Final Cut Pro for years for my video editing. There are great tutorials that I suggest you use because is a powerful video editor. I also use it to edit my podcast because I can fine tune the audio and quickly record and drop in new audio should I need it. Highly recommended.

Very upset that I paid $300 for this and I cannot update or download the older version of FCP. I feel robbed by apple.

Let me start off by saying I am a professional video editor, have been using Final Cut since it’s first iterations back in 2003-2008 in college, and have used it ever since on everything from personal home projects to professional documentary feature length films. It is absolutely a professional workhorse, and with Apple’s rendering engines, has beaten every NLE I’ve used including Adobe, Blackmagic, and Avid. Now speed is awesome, but ease of use is absolutely even more important. PLEASE APPLE PLEASE, ditch the magnetic timeline. It’s time for an upgrade. It’s time to do what everyone has wanted you to do for over a decade now, and that’s allow normal timeline editing. I would also like to see better streaming integration with the latest social media platforms so Final Cut can become more of a fully integrated studio platform allowing easier integration of livestreams and livestream recording and live editing. And I’d love to see more cloud based architecture. Yup that’s right, in the future everything will be cloud based love it or hate it once the speeds get up to par… TP Link’s WiFi 8 looks VERY promising, and it would be awesome to see higher networking capabilities built directly into FCP without having to rely on third party integration. Small upgrades that would really push FCP back to the forefront of the editing world. I remember at one point you couldn’t get an editing job unless you were editing on a souped up Mac with FCP. Editing houses having entire server houses dedicated to gpu rendering for maximum output. And FCP could handle it all. Nowadays it seems that adobe has taken over along with DaVinci, but still Apple’s speed is unparalleled and they have that going for them. I’m telling you, a small upgrade with normal timeline ability (at least allow the user to switch it on and off, that way if people still want the magnetic timeline then they can switch it on), better livestream integration, and better networking directly inside FCP. Do those and I think the next iteration of FCP one again makes a bold statement that it’s here to contend with the best of ‘em once again. Transition adding and editing can feel clunky and dated, color tools are absolutely storage and NEED to be updated similar to how the Lumetri panel works for adobe it’s so much easier, and one thing that I’m so no is talking about (except all the firefly users) is AI integration directly inside FCP as well. Get ChatGPT to utilize something similar to the adobe AI engine… and again I think FCP can once again become king. It still has the potential like a well seasoned boxer ready to get back in the ring

One of the things I've always loved about the Apple app-store is the ability to download versions of software specific to the hardware I originally purchased it on. So today I was gobsmacked when I tried to download the version of Final Cut compatible with my Big Sur machine and I found out Apple is no longer hosting older versions(!) I didn't keep a local backup because I thought I could just download it again, like I have multiple times in the past... Apple, please make these older versions available again for folks like myself! Thank you in advance!
