Still waiting for a white balance lock on record , and the app is still very glitchy and takes an entire second or two to respond on iPhone 17 pro, but offers some good settings for video codecs and color profiles so maybe it will be useful soon 🙏. The native iPhone Camera app works much better although you still need an external ssd for ProRes 4k60fps.
  • Better than normal camera

Better than normal camera app for content creation, the level is really useful
  • Camera Control

Final Cut Camera is positioned as Apple’s professional video recording app, yet it barely uses one of the main hardware features of newer iPhones: Camera Control. I want to control focus, zoom, exposure, and white balance through Camera Control. These are basic parameters for serious video recording. But in Final Cut Camera, the button basically only works for starting and stopping recording. This creates an absurd situation: Apple’s own professional camera app does not properly support Apple’s own camera button. The app already has manual controls, but they still have to be adjusted on the screen. Then what is the point of Camera Control in a “pro” camera app if it cannot give quick access to the most important camera settings? This is a very disappointing limitation. Please add full Camera Control support for manual focus, zoom, exposure, ISO/shutter speed, and white balance using the button and gestures. Right now, the integration feels incomplete and unfinished.

This app really works very well, especially with capturing moments in HD.
  • Great start!

Intuitive. Powerful. I’m committed to using this. Three issues: It’s really annoying to get the footage off the phone and into FCP on a Mac. I have to import to another disk and then import into FCP. It’s the only camera of mine that can’t import into FCP. I wish defaults would be preserved. Each time I launch the app, I have to confirm that my account time code is set to Time of Day, because it switches back to network and then I have disorganized footage. Would love to start and stop recording with live multicam without needing all the cameras to stop. Especially since we need to stop recording to switch lenses. Being unable to record at all until everyone stops is a problem.
  • Buggy and loses settings constantly

After the latest update on iPhone 17 Pro, the app still loses all settings all the time. Some of them are lost whenever it loses a hold of the camera (e.g., when you temporarily background it or check a notification), others are lost whenever the app is restarted or SSD is connected. The settings include: — Shutter speed and ISO (resets to 1/60 sec and some tandom ISO every time without fail, requires at least half dozen taps to fix) — Format (often resets from regular ProRes to HEVC) — Color (often resets from Log to HDR) — Focus mode (resets to AF) — Overexposure indicators (resets to off) — Stabilization (resets to off) — White balance (goes to auto) — Camera (goes to 24mm) Other bugs: — Even if a valid SSD is connected when the app is started, the SSD has to be reconnected when the app is in foreground, losing (again) 80% of vital settings. — The overexposure indicator is nearly unfit for purpose: it highlights some degree of overexposure, but when a bright area goes far enough into clipping zone the highlighting… just stops, and the screen lies to you by pretending it’s all exposed well. You can’t rely on it in difficult situations. So much for “vertical integration”…

Very frustrating and annoying for a “professional” app. They’ll be saved one time I open the app, then gone the next.
  • New logo sucks

I love this app! It has helped me cut down on cameras for content creation and it works really well with my MacBook. The only thing I would love to have is an Apple Watch app that allows for me to be able to frame my shots and stop and start recording remotely from the watch.
